Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The 14th Five-Year Plan period is not only a crucial period for China to realize industrialization, but also an important stage for transforming the economic structure, raising the level of urbanization, optimizing the structure of residents' consumption, and improving the environment and public health. All these need to be guaranteed by the mutual support, integration and coordination of the development of energy, economy and environment. In this circumstance, to implement the scientific concept of development, promoting the coordinated development of the energy–economy–environment system becomes the necessary way to realize sustainable development.

At present, our country has entered the stage of pursuing growth quality of development, in which circumstance the sustainable development strategy becomes the inevitable choice. If we treat energy, the environment and the economy in isolation, we will fall into a contradictory situation. Along with the unprecedentedly high degree of attention to the problem of sustainable development, the government gradually began to strengthen the construction of ecological civilization and made a series of strategic goals to promote energy saving, emission reduction and control of environmental pollution. Therefore, exploring the coordination of the energy–economy–environment system, objectively and comprehensively revealing the interaction law among them, and further clarifying the resulting regional development differences will generate important theoretical and practical promotion for the sustainable and coordinated development of the energy–economy–environment system.

We encourage empirical contributions discussing on coordinated development of the energy–economy–environment system.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Coupling mechanism of the provincial energy–economy–environment system;
  • Evaluation of the coordination degree of the provincial energy–economy–environment system;
  • Construction of the comprehensive evaluation index system of the provincial energy–economy–environment system;
  • Influencing factors of the provincial energy–economy–environment system.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
