Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In recent years, the importance of environmental management and sustainability has become more pronounced than ever before. The intersection of these two fields not only offers a comprehensive framework for understanding the environmental crises we face but also provides actionable pathways to address them. The global community is called upon to move beyond broad commitments and translate ambitious environmental and climate objectives into practical, measurable, and locally relevant solutions. The urgency of this transformation is underscored by the continued escalation of sustainability challenges—including climate change, resource depletion, pollution, and social inequalities—that threaten the resilience of our ecological, economic, and social systems.
While the foundational concepts of sustainability are well established, there remains a critical need to explore and refine the specific strategies, governance structures, and technological innovations that can drive meaningful change. Research in this area must delve into the design and implementation of effective environmental management practices, investigate new models for corporate and urban sustainability, and assess the real-world impact of policies and initiatives. Without robust frameworks and evidence-based approaches, even the best intentions risk falling short of their potential, leaving communities and industries ill-equipped to confront mounting sustainability pressures.
The current Special Issue on Advancing Environmental Management and Sustainability: Innovation, Digital Technologies and Solutions invites contributions that bridge the gap between theory and practice. We are seeking original research, systematic reviews, and case studies that illustrate how theoretical environmental models can be translated into actionable management strategies, ultimately enhancing resilience and supporting triple bottom-line outcomes—balancing environmental integrity, social equity, and economic viability. We welcome submissions that address a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to the following:
- Sustainable resource use and the transition to a circular economy;
- Climate adaptation strategies and best practices;
- Strategic approaches to environmental and sustainability management;
- Integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) performance into management systems;
- Environmental innovation and the role of digital technologies;
- Effective environmental management in the context of the digital economy;
- Sustainable energy management and renewable energy integration;
- Pollution prevention, control, and mitigation strategies;
- Understanding synergies and trade-offs in the pursuit of triple bottom line goals;
- Responsible production and sustainable consumption patterns.
By sharing evidence-based research and innovative ideas, this Special Issue aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and inspire practical solutions that advance environmental stewardship and sustainability across different sectors. We look forward to your valuable contributions that will shape the future of environmental management and help build resilient, sustainable communities for generations to come.
