This Special Issue, entitled “Sustainable Development in Science and Sustainability Education and Communication: Digital Transformation and Green Transition for Sustainability and Environmental Citizenship”, focuses on the intersection of science and environmental education, environmental communication, sustainable development, digital innovation and environmental citizenship cultivation. It gathers cutting-edge academic research to explore multi-dimensional themes and research directions. Specifically, it covers the integration path of digital technology and transformation as well as science and environmental education, environmental communication, including the application of intelligent teaching tools, educational informatization construction and digital technology-driven environmental knowledge dissemination, sustainable development and SDGs. It also involves the practice exploration of green transition in educational fields, such as the construction of ecological-oriented curriculum systems and the cultivation of green education concepts. Additionally, the Special Issue pays attention to the synergistic mechanism between educational reform, sustainable development goals and environmental citizenship shaping, focusing on how to foster citizens’ sustainable literacy, ecological responsibility and practical participation ability through science and environmental education. It provides in-depth academic insights and practical references for promoting the integrated development of science and environmental education, digital empowerment and green transition.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
