Dear Colleagues,
Optical devices are playing an increasingly important role in biomedical analysis, offering rapid, sensitive, and minimally invasive strategies for detecting clinically relevant targets. Their ability to translate molecular or biological recognition events into measurable optical signals makes them highly attractive for diagnostics, monitoring, and point-of-care applications. This Special Issue aims to collect original research articles, communications, and reviews focused on the design, development, and application of optical platforms for biomedical purposes. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: fluorescence, colorimetric, chemiluminescent, plasmonic, SERS, photonic, fiber-optic, and imaging-based devices; sensor arrays; wearable and implantable sensors; smartphone-assisted and point-of-care platforms; microfluidic optical systems; biomarker detection; pathogen identification; disease diagnostics; and optical data-analysis strategies. Submissions highlighting sensing mechanisms, analytical validation, operation in complex biological matrices, device integration, portability, and translational potential are particularly welcome.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
