Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are in the midst of a remarkable technological transformation that is fundamentally changing how we live, work, and interact with our surroundings. At the forefront of this transformation are advancements in sensor technology and industrial design, heralding a new era of "Intelligent Designs." This Special Issue, in partnership with the Sensors journal, aims to highlight the latest innovations, trends, and challenges in this dynamic field, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary research and its profound implications.
The integration of sensors into intelligent designs involves developing cutting-edge sensor technologies that are smaller, more precise, and energy-efficient. These advancements enable seamless integration into diverse products and systems. Researchers are exploring advanced materials, such as flexible electronics and nanomaterials, to develop sensors that can be embedded into complex shapes and adapt to changing environments. Furthermore, advances in sensor fusion techniques allow for the integration of data from multiple sensors, providing a comprehensive understanding of observed phenomena.
Intelligent designs harness these sensor technologies by utilizing data-driven approaches and artificial intelligence. Machine learning algorithms, especially deep learning, play a pivotal role in extracting valuable insights from extensive sensor data. These algorithms support the creation of predictive models, adaptive control systems, and intelligent decision-making tools. By leveraging artificial intelligence, intelligent designs can optimize system performance, personalize user experiences, and enable autonomous operations. The impact of this interdisciplinary research is transformative and vast, with applications across healthcare, robotics, smart cities, transportation, agriculture, etc.
This Special Issue aims to expedite the development of innovative solutions that leverage the power of sensors and intelligent designs by consolidating expertise from various fields. Our ultimate goal is to foster the creation of intelligent, sensor-driven systems that enhance human well-being, boost industrial efficiency, and contribute to a sustainable future.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
