Applications of Sensors and Machine Vision Systems in Aquaculture

Dear Colleagues,

In the past three decades, interest in sensors and machine vision system (MVS) inventions has grown dramatically, and they are becoming more sensitive, powerful, and cheaper by the day. This trend provides the possibility of developing faster, cheaper, and noninvasive methods for in situ monitoring and, after harvesting, for quality monitoring in aquaculture. The development has enabled the trend of precision fish farming, which provides new and useful information for fish farming decision-making with respect to fish welfare.

This Special Issue focuses on “Applications of Sensors and Machine Vision Systems in Aquaculture”. We seek articles that utilize proximal and remotely sensed data for aquaculture, including but not limited to the following:

• Innovative applications and methods in proximal and remote sensors in aquaculture;
• Novel data analytics for state-of-the-art sensors and their applications in aquaculture;
• Calibrations, verifications, and case studies for real-time and onsite water quality and aquaculture measurements;
• Automation, control systems, and multipurpose sensors in aquaculture;
• Sensing system for monitoring and quantifying fish welfare;
• Approaches for biometrics, diseases or behavior sensing in aquaculture;
• Fish behavior tracking sensors and algorithms;
• Sensors and their applications in fish product monitoring;
• Sensor systems for aquaponics monitoring, control and maintenance;
• Sensors network and IoT in aquaculture and aquaponics;
• Sensors and their applications for fish product quality monitoring;
• Application of machine learning and deep learning for monitoring fish and fish products;
• Sensor mobility, automation, and telemetry;

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
