Dear Colleagues,
Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and connected vehicles (CVs) are transforming mobility through the integration of sensing, connectivity, automation, artificial intelligence and data-driven decision-making. The rapid deployment of vehicle–infrastructure cooperation and vehicle–road–cloud systems is creating transportation environments that are increasingly dynamic, heterogeneous and cyber–physical. The reliable perception of vehicles, road users, infrastructure and traffic states, together with effective multi-source data fusion and real-time decision-making, is therefore essential for improving transportation safety, efficiency, resilience and sustainability.
This Special Issue seeks original research and review articles on sensing, modeling, prediction, control and optimization for ITS and CVs. Particular emphasis is placed on studies that connect sensing and data acquisition with transportation-system modeling and operational decision-making. Relevant contributions may address vehicle and roadside sensing, cooperative perception, traffic state estimation and prediction, connected and automated driving, vehicle–infrastructure and vehicle–road–cloud collaboration, traffic flow modeling and control, multi-source and multimodal data fusion, digital twins, safety and reliability assessment, human–vehicle–infrastructure interaction and transportation system optimization. Methodological and application-oriented studies using artificial intelligence, machine learning, edge/cloud computing and emerging data-driven approaches for intelligent mobility are also welcome. Experimental validation, field deployment, open datasets and reproducible evaluation are particularly encouraged where appropriate.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
