Dear Colleagues,
Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and edge computing are opening up new horizons for intelligent sensing systems that can transform healthcare and environmental applications. This Special Issue, entitled “AI-Enhanced Sensing with Quantum and Edge Computing for Intelligent Healthcare and Environmental Systems”, invites the submission of innovative research that integrates these emerging technologies to achieve faster, smarter, and more sustainable sensing solutions. In healthcare, AI-driven and edge-enabled sensors are enabling real-time patient monitoring, early disease detection, and personalised treatment through continuous physiological and behavioural data analysis. Quantum computing adds a new dimension by enhancing diagnostic accuracy, improving imaging reconstruction, and providing stronger encryption for sensitive medical data. Similarly, in environmental systems, these technologies can improve the monitoring of air and water quality, detect pollution anomalies, optimise energy use, and support predictive models for climate and disaster management. This Special Issue welcomes contributions that address design, algorithms, and frameworks integrating AI, quantum, and edge technologies to create resilient, secure, and adaptive sensing systems supporting human and environmental well-being.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
