Dear Colleagues,
In recent years, neuromodulation technology has developed rapidly, with its implantable applications demonstrating tremendous potential in advancing cutting-edge exploration in brain science, revolutionizing treatments for neurological diseases, and facilitating the evolution of artificial intelligence technologies. Compared with non-invasive approaches, implantable neural sensing and modulation technologies exhibit significant advantages, such as stronger signals and higher precision. Moreover, continuous breakthroughs in emerging technologies like micro–nano manufacturing have injected new momentum into the in-depth expansion of this field.
In light of this, this Special Issue has been established to systematically present the latest research advancements, cutting-edge technological approaches, innovative application practices, and emerging challenges in implantable technologies within the field of neural sensing and modulation. We invite submissions of both original research and review articles.
Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Intracranial neural modulation and sensing technologies based on optical, electrical, thermal, magnetic, ultrasonic, and other physical methods;
- Peripheral neural modulation and sensing technologies based on optical, electrical, and other physical methods.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
