Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) has become a core Earth observation technique for high-resolution topographic reconstruction and surface deformation monitoring. Driven by rapid advances in repeat-pass SAR, formation-flying SAR constellations, and high-resolution satellite systems, data resources have been greatly enriched, for example, the growing availability of Chinese formation-flying SAR data with spatial resolution up to 1 meter. The recently successfully launched NASA-ISRO NISAR satellite provides systematic dual-frequency SAR observations, opening new opportunities for large-scale, high-precision InSAR applications. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence and multi-source data fusion have significantly improved the accuracy, efficiency, and robustness of InSAR processing in complex terrain, urban areas, and geohazard-prone zones. These advances make InSAR indispensable for disaster prevention, infrastructure safety, urban management, and global environmental change research.

This Special Issue is dedicated to the Remote Sensing journal’s scope of earth observation and geospatial information technology, aiming to showcase the latest research progress, technical innovations, and practical applications of InSAR in high-resolution topographic reconstruction and deformation monitoring. We welcome original research papers, review articles, and technical notes that report cutting-edge methods and empirical results, providing a platform for global scholars to exchange ideas and promote the in-depth development and cross-disciplinary application of InSAR technology.

Suitable topics include but are not limited to: advanced InSAR algorithms for high-resolution topographic mapping; formation-flying SAR data processing and applications; high-precision deformation monitoring using multi-temporal InSAR; AI-enhanced InSAR interpretation; multi-source data fusion; validation of InSAR products with in-situ measurements; and operational applications in geohazards, urban infrastructure, and large-scale environmental monitoring.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Remote Sensing is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
