Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue of the journal Religions will provide an interdisciplinary space for scholarly discussion on the validity and sustainability of interreligious dialogue. For several decades, with the increase in globalization, interreligious dialogue has been explored in relation to harmonious living among people of diverse and different religious backgrounds in glocal (globalized local) communities in today’s world (see Heon Kim). Thereby, interreligious dialogue has been practised in many glocal communities, and a significant amount of research has been conducted. This Special Issue will present, review, and reflect on diverse aspects of interreligious dialogue in research and practice to discuss the validity and sustainability of interreligious dialogue.
Papers that offer a reflective look at interreligious dialogue to delineate its validity and sustainability in today’s glocal context are welcome; we particularly welcome interdisciplinary case studies that explore this topic in diverse cultural contexts across the globe. Research areas and topics may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Interreligious dialogue from a philosophical and/or religious perspective;
- Sociodemographic trends and interreligious dialogue;
- Interreligious dialogue in education;
- Interreligious dialogue and migration;
- Interreligious dialogue and sustainable development;
- Interreligious dialogue in new religious movements;
- Interreligious dialogue online (or for digital humanity);
- Theoretical and methodological perspectives on the study of interreligious dialogue;
- Interreligious dialogue and the future of religion.
We request that prior to submitting a manuscript, interested authors initially submit a proposed title and an abstract of 200-300 words summarizing their intended contribution. Please send this to the Guest Editors, Dr. Heon C. Kim (heonkim@esu.edu) and Dr. Song Chong Lee (songchonglee@snu.ac.kr) or to the Assistant Editor of Religions (religions@mdpi.com). Abstracts will be reviewed by the Guest Editors for the purposes of ensuring a proper fit within the scope of this Special Issue. Full manuscripts will undergo double-blind peer review.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.
