Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Heterogeneous catalysis has undergone revolutionary advancements because of the goal of efficient and sustainable energy production. The crucial part that heterogeneous catalysis has played in developing energy generation will be explored in this Special Issue. Original research articles and potential reviews based on heterogenous catalysis are the focus of this Special Issue.

A game-changing solution for addressing the world's energy crisis is heterogeneous catalysis, a method that uses catalysts to speed up chemical reactions at the interface of many phases (such as solids, liquids, and gases). The main goal of this Special Issue is to shed light on the fundamental elements of energy production based on heterogeneous catalysis and highlight its potential to completely alter the energy landscape.

The scope of this Special Issue is listed below:

  1. Fundamentals of Heterogeneous Catalysis: An introduction to the core ideas of heterogeneous catalysis, including the mechanisms at play and the importance of catalysts in aiding energy-related reaction systems.
  2. Energy Sources and Catalytic Conversion: Research based on thorough analysis of various energy sources, including hydrogen, renewable resources, and fossil fuels, and how catalytic conversion techniques can be used to more effectively and sustainably utilize their power.
  3. Hydrogen Production: A thorough examination of the function of heterogeneous catalysis in the production of hydrogen, a crucial component of the switch to clean energy.
  4. Carbon Capture and Utilization: Discussion of how catalytic processes can be used to capture and transform carbon dioxide emissions into useful products, reducing the negative effects of energy generation on the environment.
  5. Advanced Materials and Catalyst Design: A better understanding of how innovative catalyst materials are created and the design ideas that underpin their improved efficiency in energy-related reactions.
  6. Challenges and Future Prospects: A review of the present challenges and bottlenecks in the field of heterogeneous catalysis-based energy production, as well as potential future directions and new research topics.
  7. Environmental and Economic Implications: The use of heterogeneous catalysis in energy production and its potential to lower greenhouse gas emissions and develop sustainable energy pathways are examined in terms of their effects on the environment and the economy.

This scope summary intends to highlight the significance of heterogeneous catalysis as a cornerstone technology in the pursuit of cleaner, more effective, and sustainable energy production by offering an overview of these crucial elements. It will draw attention to the development and innovation taking place in this area as well as its potential to transform the world's energy system for a greener future.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
