Techniques for Assaying Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs)

Dear Colleagues,

For more than half a century, we have known that endocrine-disrupting chemicals act in very small amounts with a detrimental impact on human health.

Hormones regulate the body’s development, growth, reproduction, metabolism, immunity, and behavior. As chemicals mimicking hormones bind to specific receptors, they interfere with the natural hormone systems, resulting in health issues including cancer.

Exposure to endocrine disruptors in the womb or infancy can have life-long effects, such as in the case of Bisphenol A, now banned in infants’ products after long public and legal debates supported by the scientific community via publications on the topic.

Although there is growing worldwide concern regarding the negative health and environmental impacts caused by endocrine disruptors, and specific legislative obligations now aim at phasing out known endocrine disruptors from many industries, some consumer products such as everyday disposables remain insufficiently monitored for such chemicals.

Articles on new or improved methods for identifying and quantifying known or new endocrine disruptors in consumers products, as well as review articles regarding the legislations and status of endocrine disruptors locally or worldwide, will be accepted.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
