Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Tissue engineering represents a dynamic and interdisciplinary area of research dedicated to restoring, replacing, or regenerating impaired tissues and organs by integrating living cells, bioactive molecules, and biomaterials that recapitulate the native extracellular matrix. Within this field, skin tissue engineering has attracted particular attention because skin is a complex, multilayered organ that must rapidly restore its structural integrity to prevent infection and maintain physiological functions after injury. Polymers are key enablers in skin tissue engineering, as their chemical structures, architectures, and degradation profiles can be tailored to mimic the native mechanics of skin, support cell adhesion and proliferation, modulate the inflammatory response, and provide platforms for the controlled delivery of therapeutic agents in wound dressings, scaffolds, and hydrogel-based constructs.
This Special Issue, “Polymers for Skin Tissue Engineering,” aims to present the latest advances in polymer design, synthesis, and application for skin tissue engineering and skin tissue regeneration. By spotlighting innovative polymer-based strategies, this issue will demonstrate how state-of-the-art polymer systems can accelerate the development of clinically relevant solutions for skin tissue repair and regeneration.
We cordially invite you to submit your original research papers and comprehensive review articles to this Special Issue.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
