Advances in Polymeric Materials for Lithium-Ion and Post-Lithium-Ion Batteries
This special issue belongs to the section “Polymer Applications“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Polymers play a critical role in lithium-ion and next-generation batteries, serving as integral components in electrodes, electrolytes, and separators. This Special Issue highlights the innovative contributions of polymers to advancing lithium-ion and emerging post-lithium-ion battery technologies. Key topics include their applications in polymer electrolytes, binders, separators, and electrode materials, with a focus on enhancing battery performance, sustainability, and safety. This Special Issue emphasizes addressing challenges such as improving energy density, extending cycle life, enabling fast charging, and minimizing environmental impact.
This call for submissions welcomes original research, short communications, and reviews offering novel insights into the design and applications of polymeric materials in battery systems. Contributions are expected to advance the understanding of polymer integration into energy storage devices, highlighting both performance optimization and environmental benefits.
By presenting cutting-edge research, this Special Issue aims to showcase how polymeric materials are driving the development of sustainable and high-performance battery technologies, supporting the global shift towards greener energy systems. It serves as a platform for sharing advancements that will shape the future of energy storage and contribute to addressing pressing environmental and technological challenges.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
