Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Ongoing global warming and climate change adversely affect plant growth and development, triggering dynamic alterations across multiple biological layers. Recent advancements in omics approaches, such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and phenomics, have transformed our understanding of the intricate molecular networks that govern plant stress responses and collectively provided a systems-level perspective on how plants perceive, respond, and adapt to environmental stressors. These cutting-edge technologies not only enable comprehensive insights into the genetic and molecular mechanisms of plant stress responses, but also help us to identify stress-responsive genes, regulatory networks, and pathways. By unravelling the complexities of gene regulation, protein dynamics, metabolic pathways, and the resultant phenotype, these multi-omics integrative tools offer a path toward precise crop improvement strategies to develop high-yielding, stress-resilient crop varieties and ensure global food security

We welcome contributions that delve into various aspects of omics approaches in plant stress responses. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Genomics and transcriptomics against abiotic and biotic stresses;
  • Proteomics against abiotic and biotic stresses;
  • Metabolomics against abiotic and biotic stresses;
  • Phenomics against abiotic and biotic stresses;
  • Gene regulation in response to abiotic and biotic stresses;
  • Genome editing in plants for resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses;
  • Strategies for improving stress tolerance.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Plants is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
