Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Inflammation is a condition that is closely related to many disorders, especially metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. These conditions are the main causes of death globally, and the inflammatory process is a key contributor to their development. One of the most-affected organs is vascular tissue, with inflammation often hindering vascular tone maintenance.

This Special Issue will focus on several agents involved in the modulation of oxidative stress, cytokine production, and decreasing nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability, as well as key proteins such as receptors and ion channels. It will also discuss newly discovered effectors involved in perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) and renin–angiotensin system dysfunction, which can induce cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, and other diseases related to an inflammatory state and vascular dysfunction.

Therefore, for this Special Issue of Pharmaceuticals, authors are invited to submit original and review articles on both preclinical and clinical investigations that could contribute to the literature in this field and identify future directions for research into new vasoactive and anti-inflammatory agents (synthetic or natural products) or their potential therapeutic targets.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Pharmaceuticals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
