Interview with Dr. Renata-Maria Varut—Winner of Pharmaceuticals Outstanding Reviewer Award
Dr. Renata-Maria Varut is an Associate Professor at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova. Her research focuses on physical chemistry; chemical modeling and drug design. I am driven by the desire to support high-quality science and contribute to the advancement of the pharmaceutical field.
3. In your view, what are the core responsibilities of a peer reviewer, and how do you ensure your reviews are fair, constructive, and helpful to authors?
A reviewer’s core duties are objectivity, rigor, and clarity; I strive to provide balanced, well-justified, and helpful feedback.
4. How do you balance providing critical, rigorous feedback with maintaining a supportive and respectful tone that encourages authors to improve their work?
I combine critical evaluation with respect, offering constructive suggestions that guide improvement.
5. Finally, as someone now honored for your reviewing excellence, what message would you like to share with the broader Pharmaceuticals community—authors, readers, and fellow reviewers?
