Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Appropriate nutritional behaviors are essential for the proper development of children and adolescents, as well as for maintaining health status and preventing chronic diet-related diseases throughout a person's life. Nutritional recommendations tailored to specific age groups should now be in line with the goals of sustainable development. This Special Issue of Nutrients, entitled “Dietary Intake and Health Throughout the Lifecourse”, welcomes the submission of manuscripts describing either original research or systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The research included in this Special Issue may focus on healthy individuals in the prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases and include nutritional education programs for various age groups. This Special Issue encompasses a broad spectrum of concerns that can be explored in various contexts. Potential topics of interest may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Changes in nutritional needs at different stages of life:
    • Assessments of dietary intake/pattern of different healthy groups—children, adolescents, adults, and older adults;
    • Inappropriate eating behaviors and their influence on health status.
  • The role of diet in the prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases.
  • Contemporary dietary patterns and health:
    • Evaluation of selected alternative diets and their impact on health;
    • The impact of Western diets on the development of chronic non-communicable diseases;
    • The relevance of sustainable diets to health.
  • Health interventions and nutrition policy:
    • Outcomes of implemented programs/interventions aimed at shaping proper dietary behaviors;
    • Assessment of governments and health organizations in shaping nutrition policy;
    • Strategies to promote pro-healthy dietary choices in the population.
  • Socioeconomic and cultural factors influencing diet:
    • The impact of globalization and processed foods on dietary habits.
