Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature
Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for
future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive
positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world.
Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly
interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the
most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.
We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Nutrients 2022 Young Investigator Award is Dr. Colleen Deane.
Dr. Colleen Deane is a lecturer in muscle cell biology at the University of Southampton, Exeter, UK. Her research interests include skeletal muscle metabolic/molecular physiology, with a focus on skeletal muscle mitochondrial function in older adults, and skeletal muscle remodelling in the context of ageing, exercise, disuse, and nutrition. Dr. Deane received her PhD in 2017 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 29 publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Her Scopus scientific citation number is 452 and her Hirsch index is 10. She is evidently a rising star in the field, with a remarkable record of achievement for a young investigator in this stage of her career, especially in light of the competitive environment of scientific research today. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Colleen Deane for her outstanding achievements.
As the awardee, Dr. Colleen Deane will receive an honorarium of CHF 2000, an offer to publish a paper free of charge in Nutrients following peer review before the end of 2023, and an electronic certificate.
We would like to thank all the nominators from various fields of research for their participation, and all the Award Committee members for their evaluation of the many excellent nominations.
