Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The field of wearable and flexible electronics has evolved from an emerging concept to a pivotal element of modern technology, significantly advancing personalized healthcare, human–machine interfaces, and the Internet of Things. While early developments emphasized basic flexibility, recent progress has shifted toward creating stretchable, conformable, and biocompatible electronic systems. This transformation has been driven largely by innovations in functional nanomaterials—including conductive polymers, liquid metals, hydrogels, and nanocomposites—that deliver the essential electrical and mechanical characteristics required for seamless integration with the dynamic human body.

This Special Issue of Nanomaterials, “Advanced Nanomaterials for Wearable and Flexible Electronics”, aims to capture the state of the art at the intersection of nanotechnology and wearable technology. Its scope covers the entire pipeline, from the molecular design, synthesis, and characterization of novel nanomaterials to their processing, device integration, and ultimate application in real-world scenarios.

We welcome submissions in the form of original research articles and reviews. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Novel flexible/stretchable conductive materials and composites;
  • Flexible sensors, energy harvesting and storage devices, and actuators;
  • Integrated systems for health monitoring and human–machine interfaces;
  • Smart textiles and biocompatible wearable devices;
  • Advanced manufacturing techniques for scalable fabrication.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
