Dear Colleagues,
As the global pursuit of sustainable development and a circular economy becomes increasingly urgent, the development of high-performance, multifunctional and eco-friendly advanced materials from renewable biomass resources has emerged as a research hotspot at the interdisciplinary intersection of materials science, chemical engineering, environmental science, energy technology and other fields. We launch this Special Issue as a platform for global researchers to present novel findings, technologies and reviews, covering the entire research chain from material design and synthesis to practical applications.
Research directions include environmentally friendly preparation processes and mechanisms of composite materials (gels, adhesives, resins, films, coatings, nanopapers, 3D printing materials, etc.); their modification for improved performance (conductive, magnetic, flame-retardant, self-healing, antibacterial, hydrophobic, etc.); applications in energy, environment, biomedicine, packaging and engineering; life cycle assessment (LCA), degradation behavior, and sustainability analysis of composite materials; fundamental research on structure–activity relationships; and related reviews/perspectives.
We welcome original articles, short communications and reviews, with the expectation of gathering high-quality research, promoting academic exchanges and advancing the commercialization of these sustainable materials. We look forward to your submissions.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
