Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The performance of nanomodified composites is designed at molecular and microscopic scales and a multi-scale design framework covering microscale, mesoscale and macroscale is constructed. Collaborative design is realized with the help of multi-scale simulation algorithms and artificial intelligence-assisted algorithms. The study reveals the quantitative correlation between the microstructure and macroscopic mechanical properties of nanomodified composites.

It also elaborates on mechanical behaviors, failure mechanisms and fracture theories of interfaces between nanomodified composites and dissimilar materials.

This Special Issue focuses on nano-modified composite materials and their applications in civil engineering, rail transit engineering, hydraulic engineering, thermal insulation and other fields. The materials covered include, but are not limited to, nano-modified shotcrete, nano-modified foamed concrete, nano-modified waterproof coatings, as well as nano-modified organic and inorganic repair materials.

The core scientific and technical bottlenecks restricting the further development of such materials mainly involve the uniform dispersion of nano-fillers, the interfacial bonding performance and long-term durability of composites under harsh service environments (such as alpine conditions, large temperature differences, freeze–thaw cycles, high geothermal temperature, intense radiation, etc.).

 Potential topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  4. Nano-modified cement-based repair materials
  5. Nano-modified epoxy repair materials
  6. Nano-modified magnesium phosphate cement

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
