Dear Colleagues,
Wet assembly and processing provide versatile and scalable routes for organizing nanomaterials into functional structures and macroscopic materials. In liquid media, nanoscale building blocks—including nanoparticles, nanofibers, nanosheets, and other low-dimensional materials—can undergo complex interactions, transport, orientation, aggregation, and self-assembly. By regulating these processes through colloidal interactions, hydrodynamic forces, interfacial effects, external fields, and processing conditions, it is possible to control material organization across multiple length scales and thereby tailor the resulting structural and functional properties.
Recent advances in wet processing have enabled the fabrication of a broad range of nanostructured materials, including films, coatings, papers, membranes, fibers, aerogels, inks, and hierarchical composites. However, establishing quantitative relationships between nanoscale interactions, processing conditions, assembly dynamics, and the final material structure remains an important scientific and engineering challenge. A deeper understanding of these relationships is essential for translating the unique properties of nanomaterials into scalable and high-performance material systems.
This Special Issue, entitled “Wet Assembly and Processing of Nanomaterials”, aims to highlight recent advances in the fundamental understanding, processing strategies, and emerging applications of nanomaterials assembled from liquid-phase systems. We welcome original research articles, communications, and comprehensive reviews covering topics including, but not limited to, the following:
- Colloidal interactions, dispersion, and rheology of nanomaterials;
- Self-assembly and directed assembly in liquid media;
- Flow-, field-, and interface-mediated organization of nanomaterials;
- Wet processing, including spinning, filtration, coating, printing, and casting;
- Multiscale structure formation and structure–processing–property relationships;
- Scalable fabrication and functional applications of assembled nanomaterials.
We hope that this Special Issue will provide a platform for researchers from nanomaterials science, colloid and interface science, chemical engineering, materials processing, and manufacturing to exchange new ideas and establish connections between fundamental assembly mechanisms and scalable material fabrication. We look forward to receiving your contributions and to highlighting exciting developments in the wet assembly and processing of nanomaterials.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
