Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) have emerged as transformative materials in optoelectronics due to their exceptional photophysical properties, including high photoluminescence quantum yields, tunable bandgaps, and solution processability. These attributes position PNCs as promising candidates for applications in light-emitting diodes (LEDs), solar cells, photodetectors, and quantum technologies. Despite rapid advancements, challenges such as controllable synthesis mechanism,  the precise control of surface chemistry, and stability under ambient conditions persist.

Furthermore, integrating PNCs into composite matrices offers opportunities to enhance functionality and durability while unlocking novel hybrid properties. This Special Issue focuses on addressing these scientific and technological gaps, emphasizing the interdisciplinary nature of PNC research and its critical role in advancing sustainable energy and next-generation optoelectronic devices.

We invite you to contribute to the Special Issue, “Synthesis, Properties, and Applications of Perovskite Nanocrystals and Their Composites”, hosted in Molecules. Aligned with the journal’s scope of publishing cutting-edge research on functional nanomaterials and their technological applications, this issue aims to compile high-quality studies on PNC design, characterization, and device integration. We welcome submissions that bridge fundamental insights with practical innovations, ensuring the collection remains focused yet impactful.

This Special Issue seeks original research and reviews on themes including (1) novel synthetic strategies for PNCs and composites, (2) structure–property relationships and stability enhancement mechanisms, (3) advanced characterization techniques (e.g., in situ spectroscopy, computational modeling), (4) applications in LEDs, photovoltaics, lasing, and sensing, and (5) environmental and scalability assessments. Submissions addressing eco-friendly synthesis, interfacial engineering, and scalable fabrication are particularly encouraged. By curating diverse perspectives, this issue aims to accelerate the translation of PNC innovations into real-world technologies while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
