Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue will cover the history and nomenclature of vaginal dysbiosis and the difference between dysbiosis/eubiosis and vaginitis/vaginosis. Thereafter, this Special Issue will cover the epidemiology, prevalence, etiology, microbiology, biochemistry, diagnosis, adverse sequelae (in obstetrics and gynecology), and treatment of vaginal bacteriosis. Subtopics in the Special Issue will concentrate on specific important factors associated with vaginal dysbiosis and will include new information from molecular-based techniques, diagnosis of vaginal dysbiosis using molecular technology, the role of phage viruses, the role of sexual transmission and treatment of sexual partners, biofilms, bacteriophages, infertility, the relationship of Lactobacillus iners with vaginal eubiosis and dysbiosis, and finally, the role of vaginal bacteriosis in preterm birth.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Microorganisms is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
