Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue, titled “Recent Advances in Combatting Emerging Viruses”, aims to address the current status of emerging and re-emerging viruses that pose a continuous threat to global health, underscoring the urgent need for innovative strategies to predict, prevent, and control future outbreaks. Therefore, we invite original research manuscripts, reviews, and perspectives showcasing cutting-edge developments in antiviral drug discovery, next-generation vaccine technologies, viral pathogenesis, host–pathogen interactions, and genomic surveillance. We would like to draw attention in particular on the growing threat of arboviruses, the impact of climate change on viral emergence and transmission, and the translation of basic scientific discoveries into clinically relevant diagnostics and therapeutics. Furthermore, contributions exploring artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and One Health approaches are highly encouraged. By summarizing the current multidisciplinary research, this Special Issue aims to shed light on the impact of emerging viral diseases and contribute ideas for global pandemic preparedness.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include but not limited to the following: drug discovery, vaccination, climatic relevance, arbovirology, surveillance of viruses, medical relevance, and transmission. We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Microorganisms is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
