Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Background and history of this topic:

Endometrial cancer represents the most common gynecologic malignancy in many developed countries, and its incidence continues to increase worldwide. Historically considered a disease with generally favorable outcomes, it is now recognized as a heterogeneous entity with distinct molecular subtypes, variable clinical behavior, and divergent treatment requirements. The introduction of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) classification marked a major shift in the understanding of endometrial carcinogenesis, enabling more precise prognostication and treatment planning. Despite these advances, controversies persist regarding optimal staging, the role of sentinel lymph node mapping, the extent of surgical management, and the most effective use of adjuvant therapies in early-stage and advanced disease.

Aim and scope of the Special Issue:

This Special Issue aims to provide an updated, comprehensive overview of current standards, unresolved questions, and future directions in the management of endometrial cancer. We seek to highlight emerging concepts that integrate molecular, surgical, radiotherapeutic, and systemic approaches, with an emphasis on personalized, evidence-based care.

Cutting-edge research:

We encourage submissions addressing molecular biomarkers, risk stratification tools, innovations in imaging, minimally invasive surgical techniques, sentinel lymph node algorithms, and the expanding role of targeted therapies and immunotherapy. Studies that link translational findings with clinical application are particularly welcome.

What kind of papers we are soliciting:

We invite original research articles, high-quality systematic reviews and meta-analyses, clinical practice guidelines, expert perspectives, and narrative reviews. Manuscripts exploring multidisciplinary management, treatment algorithms, prognostic modeling, and emerging therapeutic strategies will be especially valuable. Through this Special Issue, we aim to advance the understanding of endometrial cancer and support the development of more effective, individualized treatment pathways.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Medicina is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
