Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The accelerating growth of artificial intelligence is transforming the landscape of electronic devices, driving an urgent need for neuromorphic systems and intelligent sensing technologies. Thin-film transistors (TFTs) are emerging as key enablers of this new era.

This Special Issue of Materials, led by a young researcher actively contributing to the field, aims to foster dynamic scientific exchange and showcase recent advances in thin-film transistor-based neuromorphic and sensing devices. The convergence of TFT technology with neuromorphic computing and biosensing represents one of the most exciting and impactful research frontiers today.

We welcome original research and comprehensive review articles covering the following topics:

  • Neuromorphic TFTs and synaptic behavior emulation;
  • Material innovations (oxide, organic, hybrid semiconductors);
  • Light-, voltage-, and chemistry-driven neuromorphic functions;
  • Flexible, low-power, and scalable device platforms;
  • Thin-film sensors for environmental or biomedical applications.

This Special Issue seeks to provide a vibrant platform for collaboration among emerging and established experts, aiming to inspire future directions and meaningful breakthroughs in next-generation electronics.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
