Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In an era marked by rapid and continuous transformations in landscapes, resource availability, and agricultural practices, a profound understanding of how these shifts impact wildlife ecology and health is imperative. The interplay between changing landscapes, forest management practices, and agricultural methods is increasingly influencing the behavior, growth, and habitat availability of diverse wildlife populations in Europe. These dynamics not only have far-reaching implications for the agricultural and forestry sectors but also pose significant risks to human health through the transmission of zoonotic diseases to domestic animals and increased vehicle–wildlife collisions.
The contributions of forest ecosystems to biodiversity conservation, climate regulation, and overall human well-being are paramount; however, these vital ecosystems are currently beset by numerous challenges, including climate change, the invasion of non-native species, shifting land-use practices, the presence or absence of large carnivores, and evolving forest management strategies.
This Special Issue of Land seeks to delve into the complex interplay among forest ecosystems, landscape dynamics, ecological processes, and wildlife interactions across Europe; therefore, we invite contributions that elucidate the mechanisms through which landscape alterations influence wildlife dynamics, offering insights that will enhance our understanding of ecosystem sustainability and resilience in the face of impending environmental changes.
The goal of this Special Issue is to gather together papers (original research articles and review papers) that provide insights into the impact of landscape change on wildlife populations.
This Special Issue will welcome manuscripts that link the following themes:
- Wildlife management and ecology;
- Interactions between wildlife, landscape, and humanity;
- The impact of landscape shift on wildlife (connectivity, corridors, vehicle–wildlife collisions, etc.).
We look forward to receiving your original research articles and reviews.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Land is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
