Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Land use practices are among the most significant drivers of vegetation change worldwide. In the context of accelerating climate change, understanding how agricultural management, forestry practices, and landscape planning influence vegetation dynamics has become increasingly important for ensuring ecosystem resilience, food security, and sustainable land management.

This Special Issue aims to advance understanding of how agricultural management, forestry practices, and broader land-use strategies influence vegetation dynamics under changing climatic conditions.

We welcome interdisciplinary contributions that integrate field observations, remote sensing, GIS-based analysis, modeling approaches, and agroecological assessments to explore climate-driven shifts in vegetation patterns, ecosystem resilience, and adaptive land management. Particular attention will be given to agricultural systems such as vineyards and orchards; agroclimatic suitability and crop zoning; sustainable vineyard and farm management; land degradation and restoration processes; vegetation responses to extreme climatic events (e.g., droughts, heatwaves, hailstorms); and forestry practices. Methodological innovations in vegetation monitoring, spatial analysis of land use/land cover change, and policy-relevant frameworks supporting climate adaptation are also encouraged. By bridging ecological, agricultural, and spatial perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to provide new insights into how land use practices can enhance vegetation resilience and support sustainable development in the context of global climate change.

This Special Issue will welcome manuscripts that link the following themes:

  • Land use/land cover change and vegetation dynamics;
  • Climate change impacts on agricultural and viticultural systems;
  • Agroclimatic suitability and crop zoning;
  • Sustainable land management practices;
  • Remote sensing and GIS applications in vegetation monitoring;

  • Vegetation responses to extreme climatic events.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Land is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
