Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This call for papers on the theme of “Risk Management in Financial and Accounting Decisions” is intended to indicate insights and viewpoints from scholars regarding managerial risk-taking determinants and effects for policy making and market participant behavior.

Risk management is considered as a major research stream within the finance and accounting literature. The existing literature has investigated how managers take risks in their accounting and financial decisions. For instance, accounting research has focused on tax avoidance and earnings-management-related decisions that are risk oriented and require an increasing control of managerial actions through external and internal corporate governance devices, including the board of directors, auditors, legal system and product market competition among others.  The increasing interest in risk management in this field of research is also attributed to external factors, such as the recent COVID-19 pandemic and also the financial crisis of 2008 that has led to changes and regulation to face high risk taking by managers.

The Special Issue is open to all types of research methods. Suitable topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Risk and performance management.
  • Antecedents and effects of managerial risk taking.
  • Tax avoidance practices during the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Innovative strategies.
  • Excessive cash holding policies.
  • Risk taking by family firms.
  • Sustainability and risk taking.
  • How to monitor risky decisions.
  • Other topics related to financial, operational and management risks.
