Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The Coronavirus emergency, has made it clear that we live in different societies from those that many tell. They are societies in which risks and inequalities increase and at the same time, the ability of states to deal with them decreases, guaranteeing security and equal conditions to citizens, while the market creates more problems than solutions and the world of science and technology often does not offer the expected certainty. Risk is not only a particular event, future and uncertain, which can influence in a positive or negative way the achievement of certain results, coming to affect the stability of an individual or an entire organization. Risk is now the global horizon within which, as organizations and as individuals, we move and orient ourselves.

And yet the many forms of political participation constitute a powerful and scarcely considered democratic infrastructure, which can guarantee information, relief and assistance that are not only material, the construction and reconstruction of social ties, the voice and protection of abandoned subjects, a reminder of the reality of institutions, support for operators and workers.

This special issue is mainly focused on the multiple forms of participation in today's risk society. Papers will be considered for inclusion in the following topic areas (but not be limited to only those topics):

  • Political Risk
  • Political Participation
  • Geopolitical risk
  • Risk society and participation
  • Inequality analysis
