10th Anniversary

The year 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of Journal of Imaging, a peer-reviewed open access journal on imaging techniques. With an Impact Factor of 2.7 and a CiteScore of 5.9, the journal is covered in Scopus, ESCI (Web of Science), PubMed, PMC, dblp, Inspec, Ei Compendex, and other databases. The journal has published more than 1000 papers from more than 6400 authors, and more than 3600 reviewers have reviewed the journal at least once. We value the contributions made by our editors, authors, and reviewers.

In honor of the journal’s 10th anniversary, we are reflecting on our past accomplishments and embarking on an exciting new chapter. We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone for our journal and to explore the content we have prepared for you below.

Journal History


The inaugural issue was released. Journal of Imaging was published as a quarterly journal.

Prof. Dr. Gonzalo Pajares Martinsanz was appointed as the founder Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Imaging

The first paper of the Journal of Imaging was published on 5 March 2015.

Journal of Imaging was indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics).

Journal of Imaging announced the first edition of the Outstanding Reviewer Awards.

Journal of Imaging announced the 2018 Travel Award.

Journal of Imaging was indexed in Scopus (Elsevier), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).

Journal of Imaging received its first CiteScore of 1.47.

Prof. Dr. Raimondo Schettini was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Imaging.

Journal of Imaging was indexed in Ei Compendex (Elsevier), starting with Volume 8 (Issue 7).



Journal of Imaging received its first Impact Factor of 3.2.

Journal of Imaging received its 2023 CiteScore (5.9).
