Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This special issue of the Journal of Clinical Medicine focuses on future-proofing kidney stone care by making it more sustainable, effective, and resilient. With increasing incidence and high resource demands, kidney stone management is evolving rapidly, requiring innovative approaches that balance clinical outcomes with environmental and health system sustainability considerations, such as workforce capacity and organizational viability.
We welcome contributions that compare diagnostic and treatment effectiveness, aiming to identify best practices that reduce overtreatment and improve patient-centered outcomes. Studies evaluating care pathways, workforce deployment, and hybrid operating models are encouraged, especially those that enhance efficiency and adaptability. Reviews highlighting the recent advancements in care are also welcomed.
Prevention and metaphylaxis strategies—such as lifestyle interventions, personalized risk profiling, and digital health applications—are vital to reduce recurrence and long-term burden.
By integrating clinical, this issue seeks to guide the transformation of kidney stone care into a model that is clinically sound
