Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Valvular heart disease (VHD) has emerged as a significant contributor to the morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases worldwide. With the increasing aging of the global population, the overall disease burden is bound to intensify further. In recent years, propelled by innovative therapies and advanced diagnostic technologies, the landscape of valvular heart disease management has undergone a marked transformation. The substantial progress in imaging technologies such as 3D echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging has greatly enhanced diagnostic accuracy. Innovative therapies like transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and the MitraClip procedure are altering the treatment paradigm for high-risk patients. Advanced surgical approaches, including minimally invasive surgery and robot-assisted surgery, not only offer superior therapeutic outcomes but also enable faster postoperative recovery.

In this Special Issue, we will delve into these latest clinical advancements, with a particular focus on how they are reshaping treatment strategies and improving patient prognosis.
