Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Colorectal cancer is the fourth most common cancer diagnosis worldwide and the second leading cause of cancer death. Colonoscopy plays a fundamental role in the prevention and management of colorectal cancer patients and is used for both the diagnosis and treatment of early colorectal cancer and its precursors. Endoscopic removal of early colorectal cancer may require advanced techniques and trained colonoscopists to achieve good results. Currently, there are many options available. Endoscopic methods have advanced to the point where nearly all noninvasive neoplasia (including polypoid, flat, and lateral-spreading lesions) can be removed endoscopically by physicians trained in EMR and/or ESD. Endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR) of the colon offers the potential to decrease the postoperative morbidity and mortality associated with segmental colectomy. Innovative methods and new devices are being developed and may potentially change traditional paradigms.

This special issue examines the current advances in the endoscopic treatment of colorectal and wants to present extensive information for clinicians, endoscopists or surgeons, as well as oncologists and researchers specializing in this field.
