Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Stroke is preventable, but public knowledge about risk factors and secondary prevention of stroke is still low. The impact of educational campaigns and scientific reports is very important, in accordance with the principle that "prevention is better than cure". Stroke prevention is a key aspect of public health because stroke remains one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Effective preventive measures can significantly reduce the risk of stroke, as well as improve the quality of life of people who have already experienced this condition. Stroke prevention strategies are based on eliminating or controlling risk factors. Interventions that should be undertaken in the fight to prevent stroke include the following several aspects:

  1. Hypertension control;
  2. Atrial fibrillation and prevention of embolism;
  3. Lifestyle changes: diet and physical activity;
  4. Diabetes prevention and metabolism control;
  5. Treatment of dyslipidemia;
  6. Early detection and secondary prevention.

Large-scale implementation of all of these strategies could significantly reduce the number of strokes worldwide.

The above-mentioned aspects are proposed on the content of the submitted articles in the Special Issue "Current Challenges and Advancements in Stroke Prevention and Cerebrovascular Disorders".

We look forward to your important contributions to this Special Issue.
