Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Glaucoma remains one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness worldwide, with its complex pathophysiology and silent progression posing significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Early and accurate detection is critical, yet many cases remain undiagnosed due to the limitations of current screening methods and the variability of disease presentation. Moreover, despite advancements in medical, laser, and surgical treatment options, optimal disease control remains difficult due to factors such as treatment adherence, long-term efficacy, and individual patient response.

This Special Issue will explore novel insights into glaucoma diagnosis and management, addressing core challenges such as early detection strategies, advancements in imaging and biomarkers, personalized treatment approaches, and innovations in surgical techniques. We invite original research articles and reviews on topics including the following:

  • Novel diagnostic tools and imaging technologies;
  • Biomarkers for glaucoma progression and risk stratification;
  • Challenges in treatment adherence and patient education;
  • Advances in medical, laser, and surgical interventions;
  • Artificial intelligence in glaucoma detection and monitoring;
  • The impact of ocular surface disease on glaucoma management.

We welcome contributions that offer innovative solutions and can lead to interdisciplinary collaborations to improve glaucoma outcomes.

I look forward to receiving your valuable contributions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
