Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Decorating metal ions with various monodentate, bidentate, or multidentate ligands presents endless possibilities for creating metal complexes that can potentially address energy-, environmental-, and health-related issues. By leveraging light perturbation, these metal complexes can exhibit unique properties at higher energy levels, specifically their electronic excited state, which can broaden their application scope even further.

The emergence of novel properties such as photoluminescence, photocatalysis, and photomagnetism in metal complexes indicates the presence of intricate photophysics and photochemistry events associated with electron/energy transfer in their excited states. The focus of this Special Issue is to highlight investigations into the photophysical and photochemical processes of both d-block transition metal and f-block lanthanide/actinide complexes. The synthesis, structure, spectroscopy, thermodynamics, kinetics, reactivity, and photofunctional properties of these complexes will be considered and presented. Mechanistic insights in terms of experimental and theoretical aspects are highly welcome and encouraged.

The primary goal of this Special Issue is to highlight the latest and most significant advancements in metal complexes, with a particular emphasis on their behaviour in excited states, by hosting a mix of original research articles and critical reviews.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Inorganics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
