Dear Colleagues,
Metal-based compounds continue to play a pivotal role in modern inorganic and medicinal chemistry, owing to their distinctive structural, electronic, and redox properties, which are difficult to achieve with purely organic molecules. In recent years, increasing attention has been directed toward metal complexes as biologically active and multifunctional therapeutic agents, particularly in light of the global rise in drug resistance and the urgent need for novel treatment strategies.
This Special Issue aims to showcase recent advances in the design, synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of metal-based compounds with diverse biological activities. Contributions addressing transition metal, main-group, and organometallic complexes are welcome, including studies focused on structure–activity relationships, mechanisms of action, redox behavior, and interactions with biomolecules such as proteins, nucleic acids, and biological membranes. Both experimental and theoretical investigations are encouraged, encompassing spectroscopic, electrochemical, computational, and bioinorganic approaches.
Furthermore, this Special Issue seeks to bridge fundamental inorganic chemistry with applied biomedical research by promoting interdisciplinary studies that integrate coordination chemistry, materials science, molecular modeling, and biological evaluation. By bringing together original research articles and authoritative reviews, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive platform for disseminating high-quality research and advancing the current understanding of the role of inorganic compounds in biomedical applications.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Inorganics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
