Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a major global health challenge and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Despite notable advances in surveillance, diagnosis, and therapeutic modalities, long-term outcomes for many patients remain suboptimal. The complex interplay among chronic inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis, genomic instability, and diverse metabolic or viral etiologies contributes to substantial tumor heterogeneity, limiting the effectiveness of current treatment strategies.
Recent progress in molecular oncology and immunotherapy has opened new avenues for transforming HCC management. Emerging data on immune checkpoint inhibitors, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, combination regimens, locoregional therapies, radiotherapy, and liver transplantation highlight the expanding therapeutic landscape. Moreover, innovative approaches targeting the tumor microenvironment, cancer stemness, angiogenesis, and resistance mechanisms offer promising opportunities for treatment refinement and personalized care.
This Special Issue, “Novel Therapeutic Strategies for Hepatocellular Carcinoma,” aims to gather cutting-edge research and comprehensive reviews that advance our understanding of novel therapeutic targets, biomarkers, and multidisciplinary treatment strategies. Submissions addressing mechanistic insights, translational findings, and clinical applications are highly encouraged.
We look forward to your valuable contributions to this rapidly evolving field.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
