Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to invite you to contribute to the Special Issue “Microorganisms and Invertebrates in Molecular Dialogue: Mechanisms, Dynamics, and Applications”.
This Issue will explore the molecular foundations of interactions between microorganisms (bacteria, archaea, fungi, protists, and viruses) and invertebrate hosts. These associations (from mutualistic symbioses to pathogenic encounters) shape ecosystems, drive evolutionary processes, and offer potential for innovative applications. Our goal is to shed light on the “molecular dialogue” that governs cooperation, conflict, and adaptation, including
(i) Molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways in microorganism–invertebrate interactions;
(ii) Host immunity, microbiome dynamics, and co-adaptation/co-evolution;
(iii) Stress tolerance as survival strategies under extreme conditions;
(iv) Omics-based approaches (metagenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) to study symbioses and stress resilience;
(v) Evolutionary perspectives on microorganism–invertebrate associations;
(vi) Environmental and climate-related influences on symbiotic and pathogenic dynamics;
(vii) Applied aspects, including microbial symbionts in pest management, aquaculture, biotechnology, and stress adaptation.
