Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to open a call for submissions to a Special Issue of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences on the topic of “Novel Insights into Myeloid Neoplasms: From Pathogenesis to Targeted Therapies”.

Recent advancements in molecular technologies, coupled with the integration of artificial intelligence and the availability of comprehensive clinical data, have revolutionized our understanding of myeloid neoplasm biology. This transformation has led to a paradigm shift in classification, prioritizing genetic abnormalities over morphological and clinical features. Consequently, these advancements have also enabled the identification of vulnerabilities in leukemic stem cells and the development of novel targeted therapies. Nevertheless, while these therapies represent significant progress, they are unable to provide a cure for the majority of myeloid neoplasms and treatment failure poses a significant clinical challenge. Hence, there is an urgent, unmet need to understand the mechanisms underlying treatment failure and disease progression, identify vulnerabilities, and develop novel therapies. This knowledge is essential for advancing a precision oncology approach in the management of myeloid neoplasms. For this Special Issue, supervised by the Guest Editor and assisted by our Topical Advisory Panel Member, Dr. Monika Kutyna (The University of Adelaide), we invite researchers to submit their research, insight, and topical review to this Special Issue.

Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Role of genetic and epigenetic alterations in the pathogenesis of myeloid malignancies.
  • Clonal evolution and heterogeneity in myeloid neoplasms: Implications for disease progression and treatment resistance.
  • The interplay between the microenvironment, inflammation, aging, and hematopoietic stem cells driving myeloid neoplasm.
  • Immune dysregulation and its impact on the pathogenesis of myeloid malignancies.
  • Novel therapeutic targets emerging from the understanding of myeloid neoplasm pathogenesis.
  • Molecular mechanisms of drug resistance and treatment failure.
  • Identification of biomarkers that predict treatment response, disease progression, and survival in myeloid neoplasms.
  • Integration of multi-omics to understand the mechanisms of treatment resistance and disease progression in myeloid neoplasms.

Your sincerely,

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
