Special Issue Information
Dear colleagues,
Due to the widespread use, persistent discharge into the environment and ineffective treatment of WWTP, studies have reported a number of chemicals, including human and veterinary drugs, personal care products and household chemicals, in various water resources all over the world. As emerging contaminants, growing concerns to the scientific community have been raised for their potential harmful effects to the environment and human health. In particular, high awareness regarding cosmetic products is expected to drive the market's growth in the near future, especially due to the decline observed during the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019, requiring new environmental monitoring and toxicological studies.
Therefore, this Special Issue in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is devoted to the recent findings on "Ecotoxicology and Environmental Health of Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products". Consistent with this idea, experts are invited to contribute original research and review articles.
The contributions should be focused on new mechanisms and/or new approaches to advance our understanding on the environment and human health effects by these compounds to be used as an important source of information for the community.
