Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to announce the Special Issue of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH), entitled “The Role of Dietary Nutrients in Disease Control”. Dietary nutrients are proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, dietary fibers and water. They perform essential functions for the growth and development of human bodies and can be obtained from the diet. Since a growing body of research has indicated an important role of dietary nutrients in disease prevention and control, there is a continuous interest in nutrients in this field. It is equally important to elucidate the role and mechanism of dietary nutrients in disease control. Multiple mechanisms, such as ant-inflammatory properties, anti-oxidant capacity, metabolic remodeling, vasodilator action, microbial regulation or neuroprotective effects, may underly such beneficial effects.
The purpose of this Special Issue is to provide up-to-date knowledge regarding the diverse properties and mechanisms of various dietary nutrients in human disease prevention and control conditions. This Special Issue will discuss the potential role and mechanism of different dietary nutrients on health and disease etiology, prevention, progression, treatment, and control. We invite different types of original papers addressing these topics for this Special Issue, including research articles, systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
