Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Mitigating deaths and injuries from traffic accidents is an initiative included in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In a commercialized society with increasing road traffic, governments cannot ignore the direct or indirect costs caused by road traffic injuries. In addition to their physical injuries, patients suffer psychological trauma, functional deterioration, and other complications. These adverse effects prevent patients from living independently and re-entering the community, resulting in a decline in their quality of life. Therefore, in-depth research on the health impact of traffic accidents is crucial for road safety authorities to prevent and control road traffic injuries. These studies will also provide important information for public health providers and clinical physicians to use in patient management.

This Special Issue, "The Physical and Psychological Damage caused by Traffic Accidents," will bring together experts in road traffic safety, public health, psychology, and clinical medicine to offer insightful findings and recommendations for injuries and functional changes after road traffic accidents to reduce patients’ injury severity and improve their functional recovery, allowing them to regain their previous standard of living sooner and reduce the burden on their families and society.
