
Recruiting Early Career Editorial Board Members for Forests
In order to further enhance the international influence of Forests (ISSN: 1999-4907), promote academic exchange among young scientists, and strengthen the editorial team with new expertise, the Forests Editorial Office is pleased to announce the establishment of the first Early Career Editorial Board (ECEB). We sincerely invite outstanding early career researchers to join us in advancing the journal’s development and contributing to the field of forest research.
Recruitment:
We aim to recruit 50 Early Career Editorial Board Members. These members will hold the position for two years with the possibility of renewal for a second term.
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must have obtained their PhD degree within the past 10 years (exceptions may be made for career interruptions such as medical or family leave);
- Have at least five papers published as first author and achieved notable research results in the field of forestry;
- Be willing to dedicate sufficient time and enthusiasm to contribute to the growth of Forests;
- Preference will be given to applicants who have hosted or participated in national research projects or have overseas research experience;
- Currently hold an early career position such as Assistant Professor, Research Assistant Professor, Associate Researcher, Postdoctoral Fellow, or an equivalent role.

- Receiving an official Certificate of Appointment as an Early Career Editorial Board Member;
- The profiles and achievements of ECEB Members will be publicized on media platforms of Forests to increase academic visibility;
- Excellent members will have the opportunity to be promoted to Editorial Board Member based on their contributions;
- The journal will regularly acknowledge active members who participate in journal activities and peer review;
- Gaining opportunities to communicate and collaborate with internationally recognized researchers, and to participate in or co-host annual meetings and online seminars organized by the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board.
Responsibilities of an ECEB Member:
- Promoting Forests at academic conferences and among peers;
- Helping identify high-quality manuscripts and preparing bilingual (English/Chinese) media content for promotion;
- Conducting high-quality peer reviews for Forests;
- Inviting submissions from senior scientists in their respective research fields;
- Providing constructive suggestions for new initiatives and the continuous improvement of the journal.

- A short list of representative publications from the past five years.

Selection process:
Initial screening of application materials → selection by the Editorial Board → email notification → public announcement and issuance of certificates.
