First International Symposium on Flutter and its Application

The first International Symposium on Flutter and its Application (ISFA2016) will be held in Tokyo, Japan during May 15-17 2016, organized by the Japan Research Association on Flutter (JRAF). The objectives of this symposium are to investigate the integration of traditional and fundamental technologies of flutter in a multidisciplinary research environment, involving aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architectural engineering, maritime engineering, naval architecture and biological engineering, and to establish new research areas concerning energy conversion using flutter phenomena.
"Flutter" defined, in general, as the self-exited vibrations induced by the fluid and structure interactions covers the phenomena such as Vortex Induced Vibration, Galloping, Torsional Flutter and Coupled Flutter, in the ISFA2016. Various structures, including long-spanned bridges, tall and flexible towers and buildings, aircraft, cables, conductors, flexible marine structures and wind turbines stroke wings encounter it. ISFA2016 provides a forum for discussion of the state-of-the-art, new directions of technology and research opportunities in flutter and its application.
