Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the context of complex dynamic system modeling, identification, and control, the concept of entropy can play a significant role, particularly in understanding system behavior and dynamics, such as quantifying uncertainty or information content and selecting models by evaluating their predictive capacity and complexity, linking to robustness in control systems, where maintaining a certain level of entropy can help avoid predictable failures or limit cycle behaviors.

Integrating entropy into complex dynamic system modeling, identification, and control can enhance the understanding of system dynamics, improve data-driven decision making, and support the development of robust control strategies. This Special Issue presents new and improved insight, methodologies, and MIC techniques for complex systems that are challenging for research and (potentially) significant for a wide range of applications in real-world natural and engineering domains. Fundamentally, the papers should justify why the works have not been undertaken by the other colleagues and what the bottleneck issues have been the barriers for such research progression and applications. With academic rigorousness, this Special Issue is encouraging those emerging insights and approaches to provide concise/effective solutions in dealing with complex dynamic systems. The philosophy embedded in the S.I. is to seek simplicity (solutions) from complicity (problems). The editors look forward to receiving high-quality submissions and fostering interdisciplinary discussions to address the complex challenges appearing in these systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Adaptive and intelligent approaches;
  • Model-free, data-driven systems;
  • Robustness-augmented concepts and methodologies;
  • Complex system computational algorithms and interpretability;
  • Simulink configurated experimental platforms;
  • Emerging application-oriented methodologies and technologies;
  • Challenging applications in robotics and autonomous systems, thermodynamic systems, general underactuated control systems, time-delayed processes, etc.;
  • Authoritative survey in related domains.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Entropy is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
